Style: SF

A rare gem I encountered in the Inner Sunset?! This district of San Francisco is more known for its hipsters, SF lifers, scrubbed-up doctors and nurses, and Hong Kong descendants. But on this usually sunny winter day, I came upon this delightful eye-candy. As I briefly chatted with Charlotte, I found that she is also a fellow fashion blogger.

She was certainly my inspiration. I will no longer dress-down to try and fit in within the Sunset parameters. People flock to San Francisco to find themselves and to be accepted as themselves, so why is San Francisco ambiguous, or for that matter, indifferent to fashion? Orson Welles once said, “style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn.” And by this, is not giving permission to people who have no sense of style to call it “style.”

I know many San Franciscans can argue the point that people here are of a higher caliber and that they have more important issues to address than dressing themselves, but why can’t we be stamped on the fashion map to be the intellectual people who dress well? Oscar Wilde said it best, “you can never be overdressed or overeducated.” What a grand niche that would be to showcase to the world and to have, like, valley-ish SoCal people suck it.

For you hipsters in SF, you’re actually not that cool to be anti-everything because you’re actually pro-trending being hipsterish, and you’re actually copying the neo generation of hipsters from Brooklyn. And copying people is never really cool. In the 80’s, what was really cool and progressive was Moschino’s anti-fashion movement. His mentality was way more hipster.

Charlotte, if you’re reading this, hit me up! We’ve got lots to chat about!
